Dr. Butler was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area and has always dreamed of becoming a doctor since she was a little girl. Little did she know that she would take a non-traditional approach to help people by rendering chiropractic care to thousands. After completing her undergraduate degree in Biology at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, she worked briefly as a military contractor. During her time as a contractor, she revisited the idea of becoming a doctor and was drawn to chiropractic because of its natural and holistic approach to healthcare. Within a matter of a year, Dr. Butler saved her money, packed up U-Haul and moved to Marietta, Georgia, where she would complete her studies and obtained her Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree from Life University College of Chiropractic.
Prior to opening her own chiropractic practice, Harmonious Living Chiropractic: Fitness & Wellness Center, Dr. Butler worked as a chiropractic associate in a wellness chiropractic office and as an independent contract for a multidisciplinary office throughout the State of Maryland. These opportunities afforded Dr. Butler the chance to learn how to treat all types of conditions, such as whiplash injuries, disc herniations, sciatica, carpel tunnel, and more! With the desire to educate and support her patients and the community, she started an online health education program, Dr. Butler’s Health Academy, in 2020, starting with webinars addressing such topics as nutrition, doctor-patient relationship, and weight management. She believes by improving one’s health education and health literacy levels, people can make better health choices.
During the 2020 health pandemic Dr. Butler understood that many people have a desire to experience the benefits of chiropractic care, but are faced with numerous barriers within the medical care delivery system such as: the lack of reliable transportation to appointments; being un-insured (no healthcare insurance) or underinsured have healthcare insurance but it doesn’t cover chiropractic care); lack of qualified healthcare providers; having to met high deductibles, maximums, and/or out-of-pocket expenses before they receive care. Dr. Butler wanted to be apart of the solution, therefore, by expanded her services outside of her traditional fixed office location(s), she can help more people in need. Hence, Butler’s Mobile Chiropractic was born.
Dr. Butler believes in creating a strong relationship with the community she services, as a result, she has created and implemented community-based programs, such as Dinner with the Doctor and Lunch & Learn Program, which educates people on the importance of spinal and joint health, as well as how to live a healthy lifestyle. She is the author of the books, Say Goodbye to Back Pain! Exercise, Nutrition, and More! a self-help guide for people who experience back pain. This informative book includes many helpful tips, including what causes back pain, treatment options, and preventative care. She is also the author of the new children’s book series, The Adventures of Joshua. The first book of the series, The Adventures of Joshua: Spencer Spine and the Back Attack, a funny tale that is informative, enriching, story of a boy who accompanies his parents to the doctor’s office; where he meets a “special” doctor who introduces him to Spencer Spine and the infamous Back Attack.
She has advanced training in soft tissue injury rehabilitation; manual therapy procedures; strength and conditioning; sports-injury; pediatric and pregnancy chiropractic care.
Dr. Butler is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), International Chiropractic Association (ICA), International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, and American Black Chiropractic Association (ABCA).
